Abby Vorhees

Legal Fellow

Abby Vorhees joined the First Amendment Clinic as a legal fellow in May 2026. She previously worked as a law clerk with Targowski Law Office, assisting in criminal defense in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She was also a Hellman Litigation Fellow with the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE).

Abby graduated cum laude from the American University Washington College of Law in May 2025. While in law school, she earned the highest grade distinction in her Immigration, Race, and the Constitution seminar. She was a member of the American University Law Review, which published her Comment on the intersection between immigration status and the Second Amendment. Additionally, Abby served as a Teaching Fellow with the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project, where she taught a constitutional law class at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C.

Abby received her B.A. in Political Science magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina Honors College. She is a member of the D.C. Bar.
