First Amendment Clinic Director Clare R. Norins spoke on two panels during the Association of American Law Schools’
2024 Conference on Clinical Legal Education held in May 2024.
“The Privacy Paradox: Balancing Transparency and Privacy in the Quest for Justice,” co-presented with fellow First Amendment clinic directors from Arizona State, Washington University, Vanderbilt, and Southern Methodist University (pictured above), explored the presumptive right of public access to court documents and the sometimes conflicting individual privacy interests at stake.
“Wide Ranging Litigation and Advocacy as Resistance and Resilience in a Law School Clinic” focused on six law school clinics’ collective advocacy on behalf of women who suffered medical abuse and retaliation while in ICE custody at the Irwin County Detention Center in Georgia. Presented in collaboration with colleagues from the University of Georgia, Harvard, Boston University, and Texas A&M (pictured left).
